Circling Colca Canyon

Colca Canyon wasn’t just a tour focused on nature—it offered culture as well, a mix I truly appreciate. During a two-day trip, you leave the big city of Arequipa and head into inland Peru. And what do you see along the way? Nothing! And that might be the most incredible part. I couldn’t stop staring at how far you could see without a single trace of human impact—just the vast South American landscape.

Once back in inhabited areas, we reached villages that felt extremely high for a girl used to living at sea level. Coca leaves quickly become your best friend on this trip. From villages that still speak ancient languages to towering volcanoes and one of the deepest canyons in the world—where dreamlike bird species might even greet you.
