Huacachina, Peru—a tricky name to pronounce, I won’t lie. It takes a little practice, but you get the hang of it if you put in the effort. This literal oasis lies a few hours south of the capital Lima, but like many, I stayed a few days to fully take in not just the sand, but the place itself. From towering sand dunes hundreds of meters high to vast stretches of desert plains, I thought I had seen it all—until I rode over the dunes like a rollercoaster. Then I couldn’t get enough.
